WINDOWS KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS

2 comments Follow us on twitter

Keyboard  shortcuts are generally  alternative way of of executing one or more command that would otherwise be executable only through a menu, pointing device or even via a command console. They usually speeds up a common or regular operation by reducing the amount of input to just a few stroke of keys, hence the term shortcut. Some keyboard shortcuts require the user to press a single key or a sequence of keys one after the other. Other keyboard shortcuts require pressing and holding several keys simultaneously. For simultaneous keyboard shortcuts, one usually first holds down the modifier key(s), then quickly presses and releases the regular (non-modifier) key, and finally releases the modifier key

This article will show to you most  keyboard shortcuts executable in most word processors on a Microsoft operating system

Ctrl+Left Arrow –   Move cursor to beginning of previous word.
Ctrl+Right Arrow – Move cursor to beginning of next word
Ctrl+Backspace –   Delete previous word.
Ctrl+Delete –          Delete next word.

The Ctrl key can also be combined with the Home and End keys.

End – Move cursor to end of current line.
Ctrl+Home – Move cursor to top of the text entry field.
Ctrl+End –     Move cursor to bottom of the text entry field.

Selecting Text
The above shortcuts can be combined with the Shift key to select text.

Shift+Ctrl+Left or Right Arrow Keys – Select words – keep pressing the arrow keys to select additional words.

These function keys are common to most text-editing applications. If you use them in your web browser, you’ll open your browser’s associated dialogs.

F3 – Find next.
Shift+F3 – Find previous.
Ctrl+O – Open.
Ctrl+S – Save.
Ctrl+N – New document.
Ctrl+P – Print.

These keys work in most applications, but are particularly useful in text editors:

Alt+F – Open File menu.
Alt+E – Open Edit menu.
